I interviewed Jan Kopka from the Czech Republic in the middle of Europe. He had a foreign accent. The kind of bike he drives is made by a truck company, a Czech brand called Dutqtec and made for this race. It has double tires, tire size 29 x 2, 55. They are HUGE. He started from Wasilla. This is the second time he has been to Shageluk. He was here in 2003. He said the trail from Wasilla to Ophir was good but from Opher to here was terrible. There was no snow. He had to push and lift his bike and there were no markers on the trail. He said that he really likes to raice this way because it gets him closer to nature and helps him understand nature better. He felt that the only weakness in the race was himself. He learned about this race from a friend from Africa. He does not think he is going to race again. Good luck in your life, Jan, and thank you for coming to Shageluk!
