Iditarod Insider!
|
| by Jamie Hamilton, Grade 10, If you go to http://iditarod.com/insider you will see continuously updated information on the race as it is happening.
I interviewed the Iditarod Insider, Tom Pillirant from Anchorage, Alaska. In order to become an Iditarod Insider he needed a strong tech background in computers and in operating cameras. The Iditarod Insider web page started last year but it is much more successful this year. (Just to let you know, the Innoko River School started putting musher and local volunteer insider interviews on the Internet since 1995~Joy). He uses a Macintosh (Apple) computer, does editing with Final cut Pro and uses Transmit to put it on the Internet. He says the hardest part of the job is staying awake and making electronics function in this cold temperature. by Justin Arrow, I interviewed this sportscaster named Greg Heister. He lives in Spokane, Washington. His job is Producer of the Iditarod Insider. An Insider puts videos on the official Iditarod web-site. His other job is he works on television. Thanks for the interview, Greg! |

Actually, FYI, the Iditarod Insider began AFTER our Innoko River School website documented the race, its many local volunteers and the villages it passes through! Well, I hope we provided you some stiff competition over the years!
